Changing Your Wallpaper to Any Photo or Background

Last issue we covered how to change your desktop wallpaper from the default "set-up" screen to any number of available options. This issue we'll take it a step further. I enjoy changing my wallpaper several times a week, what can I say I like something different every few days. Let's go over changing your desktop to any photo you like. If you have a photo saved in your computer, skip the first part and go to the second part.

FIRST:

Let's say you've got a picture of your favorite kind of car and you want to make that your computer's wallpaper. We need to turn that picture in a digital image. There are several ways to this can be done. You can determine the most suitable route to follow.

If you have a digital camera you can take photos and it directly converts them to .jpg format on a floppy disk.

You can take pictures with a regular 35mm camera and take or mail them to a photo developer. For an extra fee they will transfer your photos to digital format onto a floppy disk. (Make sure it's saved as .jpg or .gif format.)

If you have a digital scanner or copy machine with scanning capabilities, you can scan a photo into digital format directly into your computer. 

You can also take any photo or graphic to any major office supply store such as Kinko's, Staples, Mailbox Etc., etc. (Make sure it's saved as .jpg or .gif format.)

SECOND:

Once you have your photo in digital format. Open Windows Explorer and find the location of the file. Double-click on the file and it will open in your browser. Once it is open in your browser, place the cursor anywhere in the picture and right-click. Select "Set As Wallpaper" from your options and it will be transferred to onto your desktop's wallpaper.

CYBERSMARTNOW QUICKTIP:

Create a folder on your drive and name it "Wallpaper." In this folder, keep copies of different photos and graphics you like for easy access when you want to change you wallpaper.
