Brighten up your Floral Displays

Family articlesBrighten up your Floral Displays

by David Bartosik

The easiest way to brighten up a room is with flowers. Whether you grow your own flowers or visit your local florist, it's so easy to find a handful of flowers to bring home with you.

Drop those flowers into an inexpensive vase picked up at your local hobby and decorating center and instantly your room has a focal point.

Simple, quick, and elegant.

But how about taking it up a notch? With just a little bit of extra effort you can sharpen that focal point.

For example try adding some glass marbles to the vase. You can find these at your hobby and decorating center in a variety of shapes and colors. Just a few clear ones in a clear vase can make a dramatic visual difference. You can heighten the effect by displaying the vase in front of a sunlight window. Another way to impact your visual display is with simple food coloring. Just a couple drops into the water and BAM!

This photograph demonstrates flowers picked up at the local supermarket, displayed with a clear short vase, clear marbles and a dash of yellow food coloring.

Feel free to experiment. With infinite floral varieties, and ample selections of vases and marbles, and a rainbow of color, the possibilities are endless.
