A nautical theme is fun, especially if you love the ocean!

Here are a few nautical decor accessory ideas that you can do yourself:

- Paint sand dollars (or other shells) in a transluscent acrylic color either with glitter, or, if without, add glitter later or sponge on silver or gold. Put a few of these in a beachy looking basket...

- Color sand (put desired amount of sand in bowl, cover with water, add food coloring, let sit until desired color is reached, drain, spread on newspaper & dry). Fill a round glass vase that has an opening the size of a votive candle 1/3 full with your dry, colored sand and add shells on top of the sand. Place a votive candle that matches the sand color in the opening of the vase and add a tied matching ribbon around the rim...

- Paint a lighthouse on sea floats...

- Frame a photo, postcard or magazine picture of sea related items (lighthouses, fish, whales, seagulls, a ship, etc.). Glue small shells, feathers or driftwood found on the beach to the frame.
