What brower types or versions must be used for SSI?
Actually, the SSI is determined by your host server, not a browser. If you are doing "includes" then it will present the coding as on a regular html document. That coding is up to you to determin its ability to be seen in a specific browser. The include part itself is done by the server. The echo commands should work on all browsers since that information is coming from the server.

Will using SSI affect search engines placement negatively?
No. The SSI parsing is done at the server before the page is displayed. This means all the includes and echos will be already present when the search engine (or any visitor) looks at the page. So all of your information will be there, intact, and ready for reading.

What about download time? Does SSI take longer to display a page?
Yes, there is some extra time involved. Most of this will depend on the capacity of your host server. If it is overloaded, there may be some waiting for your page to display. But this would also be the case without using SSI as well. The usual extra time for SSI is about one second or less. Considering the advantages to be used with SSI, that extra second should be well worth it.

I have an include to filname.txt on my page which has an SSI call in it. When the page is parsed, I see the SSI call instead of the result. How do I fix this?
Rename the extension of the filename to shtml. This will tell the server that it has an SSI call in it that must be parsed. The file will then be included onto your original page as expected.

Will HTMlite be going further into SSI tutorials?
If there is time and if there are enough enquiries to do so. Most of the basic includes and echos are the most common used, so that seems to be a fair good start on SSI understanding for now.
